Q. What does AshaKiran do? What is AshaKiran?

A. AshaKiran is a nonprofit organization offering crisis services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. In addition to direct support, we educate and train service providers and community members to raise awareness about the victimizations and how they may present in our communities.

Q. What does AshaKiran mean?

A. It means “A Ray of Hope”. And that is exactly what we aim to do – we want to be a ray of hope in our clients and community’s lives!

Q. What is unique about AshaKiran’s approach?

A. AshaKiran provides customized and appropriate services based on each unique individual.

Q. What kinds of services does AshaKiran offer?

A. We provide comprehensive direct services to individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our support includes shelter, counseling, case management, transportation, and advocacy. Our dedicated team of social workers and case managers work closely with clients to support their healing journey, helping them transition to a safe and healthy environment and achieve their personal goals.

Q. Who does AshaKiran serve?

A. We serve anyone who has faced domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Q. What ages do you serve?

A. Clients must be 19 years or older.

Q. Who can stay in your shelter?

A. Our safe home houses women 19 years or older. We always aim to keep families together, so children can also stay in the safe home. If a male child is 14 years or older, the family automatically goes into our non-residential program and receives all of the same support services as our residential clients. Currently, there are no time restraints on how long clients may remain in our programs.

A. Our 24/7 crisis line offers support and services for individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Callers can reach out for immediate assistance or to access resources, even if they do not require urgent help.

A. Yes, we offer awareness and training programs for individuals and organizations, focusing on various topics that are related to working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

A. Absolutely! We collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and others to build a network of support and understanding for our served population.
