Q. What does AshaKiran do? What is AshaKiran? 

A. AshaKiran is a nonprofit organization offering crisis services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. While we serve anyone in need, we specialize in supporting foreign-born populations by providing culturally and linguistically specific services. In addition to direct support, we educate and train service providers and community members to raise awareness about the victimization we address and the critical intersection of culture and language in supporting survivors.  

 

Q. What does AshaKiran mean? 

A. It means “A Ray of Hope” in Hindi. And that is exactly what we aim to do – we want to be a ray of hope in our clients and community’s lives! 

 

Q. What is unique about AshaKiran’s approach? 

A. AshaKiran provides culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services. We believe in acknowledging all cultures and addressing challenges with cultural humility and awareness.
